FROGGY PICKS A PUMPKIN

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin is super cute for Fall!  The book explores key themes and messages that resonate with young readers. It emphasizes the excitement and anticipation of seasonal traditions, such as visiting a pumpkin patch and carving jack-o’-lanterns.

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin Read Aloud

Are you headed on a field trip to a pumpkin patch?  This read-aloud would actually give multiple “don’ts” to talk about!! Froggy Picks a Pumpkin read-aloud can be found on Youtube (search: youtube Froggy Picks a Pumpkin).

The book follows the adventures of Froggy and his friends as they embark on a class trip to the pumpkin patch. The trip is enlivened by a contest to find the biggest, smallest, prettiest, ugliest, and best all-around pumpkins. Froggy is excited about the trip and can’t wait to pick a pumpkin of his own. He dreams of carving a jack-o’-lantern and baking a delicious pumpkin pie. Throughout the story, Froggy and his friends encounter various challenges and learn important lessons about teamwork, friendship, and the joy of autumn festivities.

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin”Pumpkin Patch Scavenger Hunt

One fun activity inspired by the book is a Pumpkin Patch Scavenger Hunt. The class could visit to a pumpkin patch or even host one on the school grounds with a collection of pumpkins. We would take a list of items to find, such as a small pumpkin, a pumpkin with a stem, a pumpkin with stripes, or a pumpkin that is a certain color. This activity encourages observation skills, and attention to detail, and can also be a great way to learn about different types of pumpkins. I have also included in my packet wall pennants that are perfect to decorate the hall or a bulletin board!

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin Activities

The book promotes creativity and imagination as Froggy envisions the delicious treats he can make with his chosen pumpkin. This is a great opportunity for a class Pumpkin Carving or Decorating Contest. They can then showcase their creations and have a friendly competition to see who has the most creative or unique pumpkins. This activity allows children to express their creativity, practice fine motor skills, and engage in friendly competition. I have also added plenty of writing exercises to practice their writing skills.

Froggy Picks a Pumpkin is a delightful children’s book written by Jonathan London. London is a renowned author who has written numerous books for children, including the popular Froggy series. Overall, Froggy Picks a Pumpkin is a heartwarming and engaging story that teaches valuable life lessons while celebrating the joys of autumn.
